Publisher & partner policy
The code of conduct for publishers, affiliates, creators and newsletter operators who carry our advertisers' offers. It exists to protect the partners who do things properly from the ones who do not.
1. Scope
This policy applies to anyone who promotes an advertiser through a program Perigon Media manages. It sits alongside the specific terms of each program and any agreement you have signed with us. Where they differ, the program terms or agreement govern.
2. Traffic quality
Traffic must come from real people who chose to be there. The following are not permitted:
- bots, scripts, click farms or any other non-human traffic;
- incentivized clicks, installs or sign-ups, unless a program expressly allows them;
- purchased traffic of unknown origin, pop-unders, forced redirects and auto-refreshing ad placements;
- cookie stuffing, hidden iframes, or setting tracking without a genuine click;
- browser extensions, toolbars or software that insert or overwrite tracking links;
- typosquatting on an advertiser's domain; and
- hiding the true source of traffic from us or from the advertiser.
Display inventory must be declared in the publisher's own ads.txt or app-ads.txt file. Sites built mainly to carry advertising, with little original content, are not eligible.
3. Disclosure
If you are paid for a recommendation, your audience must be told. Disclosures must be clear, in plain language, and placed where people will see them before they act on the recommendation: near the link or at the start of a post or video, not buried in a footer or a profile page. This reflects the US Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides and equivalent rules elsewhere. Platform disclosure tools should be used where they exist.
4. Accuracy
- Use the product information, pricing and claims supplied for the program. Do not invent benefits, results or scarcity.
- Reviews and testimonials must reflect genuine experience.
- Remove or update offers promptly when they expire. Do not publish codes that do not exist to capture search traffic.
- Do not present yourself as the advertiser, or copy its site design in a way that could confuse visitors.
5. Search and brand terms
Unless a program's terms give written permission, partners may not bid on an advertiser's brand name, its misspellings, or its brand plus words such as "coupon" or "discount" in paid search, and may not use the advertiser's domain as the display URL in an ad. Direct linking from paid search to the advertiser's site is permitted only where the program says so.
6. Coupons and codes
Promote only codes issued to you or published for general use by the program. Codes issued to one partner are not to be distributed to others. "Click to reveal" mechanics may not set tracking when no valid code exists.
7. Email and SMS
Partners who promote by email or text message must meet our email and anti-spam policy in full. In summary: opted-in recipients only, accurate sender and subject, a working unsubscribe honored promptly, a postal address in every commercial email, and suppression lists applied before every send.
8. Content standards
Offers may not appear alongside content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that infringes intellectual property. The standards in our advertising policy apply to anything you create to promote an advertiser.
9. Privacy
You are responsible for your own compliance with privacy law: an accurate privacy policy, consent for cookies and similar technologies where required, and respect for opt-out signals. Do not send us or an advertiser personal information about your audience unless a program requires it and you have the right to share it.
10. What you can expect from us
- Program terms, rates, attribution rules and payment schedule in writing before you send traffic.
- A stated reason for any commission that is reversed.
- Accurate, current product information and creative.
- Notice of a concern and a chance to respond before action is taken, except where fraud is suspected.
11. Enforcement
We monitor traffic and promotional activity. Where we find a breach we may withhold or reverse commissions earned through it, suspend or remove the partner, and inform the advertiser and the network concerned. Fraud results in immediate removal.
12. Report a concern
If you have seen a partner breaking these rules, or want to ask whether a promotional method is allowed before you use it, write to us through the contact form. More about working with us is on the publishers and partners page.
